I planned to launch this blog with my trip up the Columbia Icefield this weekend. The timing was right and it seemed fitting to start with such a monumental trip. But while I was scouring Facebook for condition reports I ran into the picture above. That smile reminded me of how much fun I’ve had this winter. I am excited to go up the Athabasca and tackle the Columbia’s 11,000ers, but my focused had once again veered off into the technical challenges and boasting rights, away from the true treasures. The photo from the summit of Mt. Castleguard was a good and poignant reminder.
